Life Sanctuary

For the protection of wild life
animals Jaldapara Wild Life Sanctuary was formed in the year
1943 in Alipurduar Sub-Division of Jalpaiguri. Single Horned
Rhinos is the specialty of the place. River Torsha has bisected
the forest sanctuary. The sanctuary is mostly covered with tall
grasses, which is favorite of rhinos. The Royal Bengal Tigers
are another attraction of the place. Other available animals are
elephants, deer, hog deer, wild pigs, bison including various
number of birds, etc. It is said to be paradise for bird
watchers. Rare birds like Bengal Florican, hornbill, drongo,
etc. are sighted here.
Thrilling elephant safari is organized from Holong in the early
morning to explore the beauty of the vast grassland of Jaldapara.
The elephant ride is the best way to roam around the sanctuary.
Jeep safari also organized inside the sanctuary.
Though the nearest hotel to Jaldapara is in Madarihat, Forest
